John Milton Parker, 89, called a truce on August 2, 2021, at his home. Predeceased by his wife of 47 years Carole Parker, in 2007 he is survived by his son, John Parker; daughter-in-law, Christine Parker; grandson, Asa Parker; sister-in-law, Jean Moore; brother, David Parker; and sister, Linda Parker Dingle. Irreverent but with an old-school moral code, a 70s man both ahead of and behind his time, the iconoclastic IBMer dispelled the “zipperhead” image, walking the two miles to work rain or shine, biked on the weekend, and spent the much “discussed” sum of $300 on a ride during an era when about the only other bicyclists on American roads were under 12.

Bill worked at Lockheed Martin for 30 years, retiring in 2014. His work improved the production of U.S. Navy helicopters and ensured their success in the fleet. Bill was a true mountain man who loved the outdoors, especially skiing. For many years, he served on the National Ski Patrol at Greek Peak, where he earned a National Ski Patrol National Appointment #11364 for his outstanding service.
